Living on Atlantic Ave?
I am considering moving onto Atlantic Ave (between Hoyt and Bond; low floor of a walk up). I know the area generally, but don’t live in close proximity now. Any comments on what it might be like to live directly on Atlantic? Any comments on that specific area more generally? Thanks very much.

Uh, all you people ranting about AY and the AYE, get a clue. The OP is talking about Atlantic between HOYT/BOND STREET! I have lived right off of Nevins/Atlantic for years and none of the Atlantic Center/Terminal construction ever bothered me one bit, nor did the construction of the BoCoCa Suiteson Third or and The Atlantic (which are both much closer).
I am opposed to the AY project, but come on, be reasonable people. Get a grip on the hysteria.
YOU ARE PROBABLY GOING TO BE LIVING IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE.. The AY construction has already begun.. do a map check and see if you are in the zone.
I lived on Atlantic between hoyt and bond a few years back.
Pros- Access to stuff- easy to get to both Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens as well as the Heights
Cons- Busy and Loud. And might be getting busier and louder when Atlantic Yards construction gets rocking.
Overall I liked living there ok.
I lived on Bergen Btw Smith & Hoyt and spent a good deal of time going to & from things on Atlantic. It’s certainly desirable in terms of access to many services, restaurants, shopping etc. It is a very busy street and noise will likely be a big issue particularly on a lower floor. Would you be renting or buying? I guess either way you’d do fine financially because that area is hot & getting hotter by the second. That said I moved away from there because I don’t care to live in such a busy area with so many people, strollers etc. I don’t yoga, go out to dinner much or shop for sport etc so the amenities were easy to move away from.
