I own a small house built in 1921 in San Antonio TX. The house also has a servant’s quarters behind the main house. Due to some old water damage, I decided to remove the drywall from the ceiling of the servants quarters. I was surprised to find that the drywall had been nailed directly over approx 6in wide, very nice tongue and groove planks. The planks are about 10ft long each and run from one end of the living room to the other, with no seams. I’m thinking about leaving this bare, as it is in very good shape. Do I need to seal or treat this ceiling in any way? Thanks for your suggestions!
Wax and a good buffing always works well on wood.
Going to be tough to find the right way to treat wood in San Antonio from a bunch of people from Brooklyn.
We can pretty much regurgitate what the internet says about it but our climates are different so we don’t have much first hand experience.
i think you have to look into the housing code for fire rating.
