Reclaimed Wood Floors
A few people on this board have recommended reclaimed wood floors as a hardwood option. Does anyone have a specific website they’ve used in the past with excellent results? Thanks!

There are several good sites on the subject of Recovered and Reclaimed Wood. Do a google search and also check out http://ReclaimedWood.Info
David Old here from Old Wood LLC, http://www.douglasfirfloors.com. We have done a lot of douglas fir floor all over NY state, NYC and New England in general. Our wood is sometimes reclaimed but in general, it is BETTER than reclaimed as it comes from extremely well certified forestry jobs such as the USFS Gallinas Watershed thinning job which is arguably the most intensely scrutinized timber sale in the history of the US.
We are earnestly and actively pursuing a program that we call Active Green. Floors bought from us ($1-$12 per sf, $5-$7 for Clear vertical grain such as is used in most brownstones)actively contribute to good forestry, community, much better than scale jobs for single moms etc. Our world burned down in the Viveash Fire on our ranch and we are in the flooring business for a lot of good reasons. Please see my website for more info and I earnestly seek and covet your business to push our program forward. I guarantee every single board personally. No waste, tight grained old growth you can feel great about and fair pricing from a US company.
New York rocks! They can’t get us down!
Thanks for the informative website.

Ok, since I’m one of those people, I feel obligated to answer your question.
I’ve used agedwoods.com w/ fabulous results, but what I ordered was a bit pricey. I see they do have a “sale” section now and yes, I’m the one who recently suggested looking at “specials, closeouts or sales” on these sites.
Also, try:
longleaflumber.com
hearnehardwoods.com
douglasfirfloors.com
architiques.net
There are several places that sell it, but I bookmarked these because of cost.
If you’re interested in reclaimed because of environmental concerns, also check out:

greendemolition.com
Some guy just posted wide plank pine for a very good price above, but it doesn’t seem to be reclaimed.
