Hello,
I have a 2 bedroom 2 bath duplex garden apartment for rent in Bed-Stuy and am having a bit of difficulty finding a reliable and thorough listing agent.
Can you guys refer anyone that you’ve used. I plan to stay in the upper portion of the building so I wanna be thorough when evaluating prospective tenants.
Thanks

  1. “Corcoran quality” service is something I would avoid. I found Corcoran to be the absolute worst broker for buying for selling and for handling rentals. I am DONE with them.

  2. I HIGHLY recommend Paul Lemarc Brown from Corcoran. He found the tenants for my property on Decatur Street. He is reliable, friendly, and knowledgeable of bed stuy. Also, you also get Corcoran-quality services for the same fee you would pay to a broker with less “reach”. I did end up paying a portion of the broker fee because I was eager to get the place rented. Found tenants within two weeks in November. Paul took care of all the screening, credit checks, walkthroughs, etc. You can reach him at PaulLeMarc.Brown@corcoran.com

  3. I really liked working with brooklyn-real, although I’m not sure if they rent apartments in Bed Stuy. I used them to rent the 2 bedroom apartment in my Windsor Terrace home. I was really impressed! We almost rented to a young couple and they advised us not to because, although they had a high income and a good credit score, their debt-to-income ratio was too high. I felt as if a lot of other real estate agencies would have glossed over that information and would have recommended them anyway just to get the quick commission. They’re on 16th Street and PPW in Windsor Terrace.

  4. I just went the Craigslist route and recommend it. If you have the time, you get a much better feel for the market, your pricing and who is out there looking, and can make your choice from everyone. Plus, you start out on a great footing with tenants who are happy to save the fee.

  5. I also recommend Denise Brown of DMB Properties. She lives in the area, and is a property manager and small landlord, as well as a RE agent, so she is quite familiar with a homeowner’s needs and concerns. Her number is 718-756-1920, or 718 689-3896.

  6. Put up an ad on craigslist and use a credit check service like TVS.

Check references and trust your gut, if it has been trustworthy in the past.

“Reliable” and “thorough” are not words I associate with rental brokers for the most part.
