lightening old oak parquet floors
I want to have my old floors lightened to a white/greyish tone to give them more of a swedish distressed look. Has anyone done this? Are you happy with the results? Is there any particular floor refinisher better suited to this process? Thanks a million in advance.

My family and friends have used Lou for years.
He’s always sood behind his work.
Did you contact him as to why your kitchen
was wareing prematurly in your opinion?
I have fould Lou to be a consumate professional who takes pride in his work.
To anyone who reads this…I’ve seen other peoples floors and I know mine look far better than theirs, and they agree.
good luck finding someone better.
You want to bleach the floors, which removes the reddish tones of standard oak–it doesn’t have the pink look that you get when you just sand and seal. I really like how it brought out the grain. You can also pickle the floors (sort of whitewash them), but it’s a very “decorator” look–probably not the simple Nordic look you’re after. Also used a satin finish water based poly, which looks great, but might not be ideal for high traffic areas–I find in my kitchen it’s getting dull. I also think I may have gotten one less coat of poly than promised. I don’t recommend Lou at http://www.finishingtouchfloor.com.
hire a viking.
Hire a distressed Swede 😉
