I have a new set of front doors propped up against my parlor wall, to be finished and installed. However, I have to buy hardward for the doors, hinges and locksets. I want to buy some nice looking reproduction antique brass set (double “dummy” set) but need some advise on manufacters /suppliers which can hold a multi lock cylinder. I know what I like aesthetically but would like to try to use the same lock cylinder to avoid disruption for tenants but especially the Post Office. I have a Multi Lock cylinder (dead bolt) and wonder what I need to know about buying a lockset which can fit Multi Lock cylinders.
Can you give me some advice on this? Thank you, as always.

Both available through Simons in Manhattan.
Signaturehardware.com has some nice reproduction hardware.
I like this company.

Charleston Hardware makes very nice reproductions. Their hardware is made for the Baldwin mortise lock body (which are also nice locksets), that they sell separately.
If your present Multi Lock cylinder is for a mortise lock, simply unscrew it and install on your new mortise lock. If the Multi Lock cylinder is for a rim lock (a separate lock, surface mounted on the interior of the door) you will have to have a mortise lock cylinder made at any Multi Lock dealer. You will need the card that came with the original lock.
I think it will be a challenge. I say this from spending more time than I care to remember on this topic – in our case, we ended up buying from Old Good Things two dummy antique “pulls” for the outside doors, with the cylinder above and distinct from them (i.e., not one of those locks where the cylinder is part of the handset thing – that’s another problem getting the terms right!). Maybe you could use the multi-lock on the second set of doors, where looks don’t matter as much and the postman doesn’t need to get in?

Try http://www.charlestonhardwareco.com they have very nice reproduction hardware.
I am the original poster. Thanks for your repsonse 5:46. I like Emtek hardware sets – they are attractive but the guys I spoke to didn’t think that I could put a Multi-Lock cylinder in them. I was going to have my contractor install the locks which he can do but he doesn’t have any knowledge about attractive hardware. He will find me the cheapest Home Depot thing (like what is in the existing doors).
So I guess my question is — is there a manufacturer which makes reproduction antique locksets which can hold Multi-Lock dead bolt cylinders. Whew! Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated.
Hardware SUCKS. I’m trying to do mine now too, for a bunch of doors. If I come across something I’ll let you know. What have you found on the market that you DO like, and maybe I can tell you about other similar brands? Give me something to work with here.
