Can’t provide a reference because the arch. we used does not normally do home renovations. We found it useful, however, to take a step back and think about what we wanted from an architect. Architects vary in the degree to which they focus on the visual design aspects, the structural, building material type aspects, room layout and functionality, etc.? Any decent architect can get your plans filed and get you through the DOB process. Some know when you need a lag bolt and some know when a particular crown molding will get you into aesthetic trouble when you turn a corner into the next room. Good luck.
