I have an old cast iron lamp post that need to be restored. One of the joints is loose. Can it be soldered or is there a better way to repair it. It is also a bit rusted and flaking. Soemone suggested sandblasting and powder coating it. I want to keep the “old” feel to it and fear powder coating will make it too shinny and new looking. Any suggestions as to how to restore it and maybe any names of places in the San fRancisco Bay aea that can do the repair?
Thanks for you help!

  1. This would be an easy DIY job with heavy duty epoxy like J B Weld for the repair and wire brushing followed by Rustoleum primer and paint (I’d suggest a flat finish if you don’t want a new look).
