Recycled Glass Countertops
Has anyone used “ice stone” material for their counter top? The material reminds me of the floors I grew up with- terrazzo. These counter tops are made from recycled glass at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. I see from their site there is a fabricator A & K Tile on 9th Street. Would love to hear…

I love this idea of recycled glass countertops, but I’m interested as to what type of designs are available. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? http://greenfieldstone.com
I really wanted to use this product, but was ultimately put off by the fact that they only want to do business with a small handful of companies in NYC (at a significant markup). I feel that I shouldn’t have to go into a manhattan showroom to order a product from a factory two miles from my house.

This Old House is currently using it on a “green” remodel in Texas. Next show they are supposed to tour the plant in Brooklyn.

1:36 here, yes it’s true, Silestone is the same as Ceasarstone. Just make sure the color you want is readily available. I had chosen Silestone first, but weeks later the color I wanted kept not arriving at the countertop place so I got a similar color in the Caesarstone instead. I forgot the countertop company that delivered and intalled it, but I ordered the countertop through Park Slope Kitchen Gallery on Prospect Ave. We love it too! It’s purdy.
Silestone is the same as ceaserstone…..we got our countertops at Home depot and they were delivered within 2 weeks and the counterops are amazing. It was our one big “splurge item–but it has been worth it!
2:33,
Your kitchen sounds awesome. Can I have it?
We had a concrete countertop with recycled glass made by a company in Long Island City, mirage studios. They made us a beautiful counter top with a drain board that drains directly into the sink and stainless steel trivets along side the stove. We also had a vanity top with an integral sink made for the bathroom in a stlye they call scagliola. They can match any Ben Moore color and the maintenance is minimal.I like that the product is a green product and the overall look is very cool.
OP – Yes, the terrazzo floors were poured and I thought they were wonderful. Thank you for suggesting Caesarstone as I had not heard of that
material. I appreciate your helpful information.
Do you remember where you looked at and/or bought
the Caesarstone? There are quite a few places
listed in Bklyn.
