I recently got troubling news from a city water inspector that my recently renovated building in Fort Greene needs a detector check valve installed…or the fines will start piling up. Im starting to get the idea that this installation is no small matter since the first plumber I called in to give a quote seemed perplexed by the job and has not called back with a quote. Has anyone had to deal with this issue and can you recommend a plumber for the job?

A detector check valve is a combination backflow protection device and water meter. You need it because you have a fire suppression sprinkler system and the water laying in the pipes is stinky and dirty and if it mixes with your fresh water, you will be sorry. The meter is there so that you can be billed for the water it takes to extinguish your burning house.
