I just moved into a new house built in 1930. All the doors match except for one. The design looks like a full panel within another full panel. The doors are also thicker than normal and seem solid. I’ve looked on every website I could find and even emailed a custom wood door mfg w/pics but didn’t get an answer. Any ideas?

  1. Heights woodworking fabricated and installed my new doors from my 1930’s house.

They duplicated the exact Style / Moulding and
Material. The job was completed in 2 Weeks

Out of 3 estimates they were the most reasonable in price and timing

  2. No interior rails or stiles. Like a tall rectangle inside another tall rectangle with about 1.5 inches inbetween. Thinnest in the interior panel, obviously. I’ll try to get the measurements.

  3. Many doors 2″ and thicker were made this way. This is my personal favorite method of construction.
Imagine replacing the flat or raised panel with a paneled cabinet door. Most 1850’s to 1890’s doors are made this way. If The door is from the 30’s it was probably made with an applied molding molding inside of the stiles and rails that appears to be a panel inside a panel.

  4. Heights Woodworking did a beautiful job building new front doors that match others on the block for 2 of my neighbor’s in brownstones.
