Final follow up on my countertop installation saga — recap — I went with Home Depot after bad experience with A&K Tile; went with soapstone; price differential was $2500 (final price) v. $3200 (estimate) (HD v. AK); was able to visit the fabricators, choose and view the slab, and determine how it would be cut. From the time I confirmed the template appointment, to selecting the slab, to installation took a total of 1 week. I had no problems getting in touch with people, setting up appointments, etc. I have to say that everything went smoothly from start to finish. Don’t know if this is the norm or the exception, but I have to say I am very happy.
After numerous bad customer experiences, A & K dumped their kitchen designer, and now use a designer from Long Island. You’ll find a huge improvement in the quality of the designs and customer service.
I just wanted to say GOOD FOR YOU for avoiding A&K. We sadly went with them for our kitchen redo, and had only the most horrendous experiences. I’m stunned they are still in business, and even more stunned that they don’t have a bad record with the BBB.
