Is it a law to require your renters to have carpet or rug in 80% of their floors (except kitchen and bathroom)?

I have 5 other tenants in my building and would like to know whether this should be in the lease, or if I would be able to include some other wording that allows more flexibility. Is it truly a law or do we have the option of wording the lease in anyway we wish?

  1. You can put it in the lease but not enforce it. That’s what most people do. That way you have the option, if you have noisy tenants or tenants that may scratch the floor, then you can legally ask them to add it.
