Moving Gas Line in Kitchen
We are doing a reasonably simple redesign in our kitchen. We may move our gas range about 3-4 feet to the left of where it is now –still against the same wall. Since it’s so close do you think there will be any need to move the gas line? If so, who would do this?…

The plumber will need to file this as an ARA. It doesn’t require any drawings and the cost is minimal.
you should probably have it moved. The most important part is being able to reach the gas shut off that is located on the pipe where it exits the wall. You do not want that blocked by a cabinet and inaccessible. I just did this. It should be pretty inexpensive, less than a grand, probably much more so depending on your situation. I also moved my water lines at the same time. You will need someone to go in and repair the drywall after.(or do it yourself) This would also be a good time to make sure your electric is what you need (dedicated lines for micro and dishwasher, gfi, extra outlets, outlet for stove, etc). That was something I didn’t think about til I realized my outlets were not over any counters with the new rearangements. But fortunatly I realized this before I put the cabinets in and patched the wall. The electricians will cut all sorts of holes in your wall as well. I am really glad I decided to do the gas line move. It was pretty cheap and maid the kitchen work much better! I used Gateway for the plumbers and laredo for the electric.
yes. a plumber. depending on the access to the pipes, this should be relatively easy.
