How Do I Find Out When a Building Was Built
For the purposes of figuring out if a building should be rent stabilized, how do I figure out when a building was built? I can’t find the info in ACRIS. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Easier way: propertyshark.com. It’s free and their info is usually reliable.
There was a DOB fire in 1899 so that is the estimated build date for a lot of buildings. But it’s definitely worth a trip (nightmare) down to the Buildings Dept to find out. If you are in brooklyn, go down and pull the folder… you will find out lots of cool stuff out about your property even if it’s kind of a zoo at the DOB. bring your block and lot number with you.. get a number at the first desk on the 8th (I think) floor, right when you get off the elevator
one way is to visit the hall of records and look up the old tax documents.
