Our garden level kitchen measures approximately 14′ X 12′. There’s a slew of imperfections, but the main point of concern is a sagging area over the threshold that connects to the living room which has been getting progressively worse over the past few years.

I’ m looking for a qualified, professional GC who could reinstall and level a floor and (in a worst case scenario) address a sagging joist.

Thanks.

  1. I’m no contractor, but something similar happened in our house. When the kitchen floor covering was lifted, the floor joists were exposed and we discovered terrible termite damage such that the joists crumbled in one’s hand. Hope that’s not your problem, but a lot of the old extensions were built by placing wood beams in soil. Since you wrote that your kitchen is over the boiler room, perhaps this is completely irrelevant.

  2. The kitchen is over the boiler room. Our floor may have been
subject to some water damage as there are some damp areas in the ceiling of the basement.
