Does anyone know about “cool roofs”? Does it work, is it good for NY climate, are rebates from city/state available, any idea on price? Our condo (small 8 unit building in CH) is looking into roof alternatives, and haven’t heard much about this option. Any help will be much appreciated.

  1. A cool roof is in reference to the procedure used in applying the asphalt, rubber, etc. You can’t use a propane torch to put down a roof on a residential building according to NYC law. A cool roof means putting down different grade adhesives by trowel or squeegee. It’s a little more work, but works just as well, when done right.

  2. If you mean a “cold roof”, isn’t that for heavy snow regions and for a peaked roof, so that snow does not melt?

You must mean something else, please explain
