This problem has been troubling me since the weather got warmer. Whenever I’m in my house (Garden and Parlor floors with large yard) I feel like I’m getting bitten by something. It isn’t painful, just a little itch, but i never see anything on my skin or flying or jumping around. I have a dog, but it definitely isn’t fleas (I know what they look like). At first I thought I was imagining it, then I thought it was dry skin, but it only happens at home. I keep my house pretty clean and shower a lot, so I don’t think it is a cleanliness problem. I have experienced no-see-ums in the Caribbean and that is kind of what this reminds me of. Could it be bedbugs? I’ve heard they’ve made a resurgence in NY. Are they visible to the naked eye? Is there some other 100-yr-old house problem that I don’t know about? It is getting very annoying. Help!

  2. WELL I HAVE BEEN GOING CRAZY WITH THIS PROBLEM AND THOUGHT IT WAS MY IMAGINATION. I HAVE ALL THESE BITES AND THEY ARE NOT FLEAS. I TRIED EVERY THING I COULD THINK OF AND NOTHING WORKS. I AM A PRETTY CLEAN PERSON AND KEEP MY HOUSE VERY CLEAN AND I FEEL THEM MOSTLY IN MY BEDROOM. I THOUGHT THEY WERE BED BUGS BUT THEY ARE NOT.
IT WORRIES ME BECAUSE I CAN NOT SEE ANYTHING. I PUT WHITE SHEETS ON THE BED AND NOTHING.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN FIND ANYTHING THAT WORKS.

  3. A follow-up from my 2 Anonymous posts on Aug 4: We tried 2 separate rounds of bug bombs (Hot Shot in the green box). The second round gave us temporary relief, but now they’re back. I just had a 20 minute discussion with my exterminator, but what I described (definitely a flying thing – so not a mite, size of a spec of dust, light in color and nearly transparent – from the 3 times I’ve actually seen the suckers) doesn’t match up with anything he’s familiar with.

I’m so GLAD that Hubby and I aren’t the only ones who’ve had these things follow us to work! We’re not crazy!

Please post or e-mail me if you find any solutions!

  4. I have them too and the worst thing is they have followed me to work. Now I’m being bitten at home and at work. At home they seem to be in only one room (the family room). I don’t know what to do about them. I thought it was my imagination too but my husband said he felt them too.

  5. This is the third year I have had these no seeums. They are driving me crazy. The past two years I had the house exterminated and I used a spray for small flying insects and flea powder and got rid of them. This year the exterminator and all the spray and flea powder is not working. I believe they are so small you cannot see them. They fly around my eyes and face and they bite. They are worse at night. I have been putting shin so soft by Avon in my bath water and that seems to help some. If anyone knows anything that works please let me know.

  6. I should add that after many hours of research, I think they are no-see-ums (midges). But there’s no logical reason I can find that they are surviving in my house or on my body. If anyone knows of an effective way to kill no-see-ums INDOORS, I’d love to hear it. I’m a bit wary about writing to the e-mail address of a company whose name I don’t even know…

  7. Yay – I’ve been having the same problem, but I don’t live in Brooklyn. I’m in Atlanta, and hundreds of Google searches over the past 11 days (since it started) have finally led me to you. Has anyone found a solution? I’ve tried flea powder, bug bombs, etc. I now have to wear clothing from head to toe in my own house. What’s worse is that a few of them seem to attach themselves to us when we leave to house, so now we even feel them (though with singificantly less intensity) when away from home. My exterminator, my coworkers, and my family (other than hubby who also feels them) think I’m nuts. Help!

  8. well, i’m like a mad women online looking for a way to get rid of these ever so hungry pests, and they too don’t bite my husband, only me everyday all night. i have had the house cleaned, dusted demited, ac filters washed, took down curtains got rid of all comforters and blankets you know that are folded in the room and such, every nook and cranny i sprayed the whole house with stuff to piss of the pests, i put powder around to suffucate them and yet the little bleapers are still here………

    won’t someone please help me?

i’m sorry u guys have them but i am glad to find out i’m not the only one my husband is acting like i was blowing things out of proportion but this has been going on for awhile and i can’t find a solution. and no they r not fleas

  9. I had a “HUGE” problem with Midges, sand fly! I finally located a company that helped me. And boy did they help. They are not well known, but I bet they will be soon. If you need help. Their e-mail is rwtmks@aol.com. You won’t be sorry.
