This problem has been troubling me since the weather got warmer. Whenever I’m in my house (Garden and Parlor floors with large yard) I feel like I’m getting bitten by something. It isn’t painful, just a little itch, but i never see anything on my skin or flying or jumping around. I have a dog, but it definitely isn’t fleas (I know what they look like). At first I thought I was imagining it, then I thought it was dry skin, but it only happens at home. I keep my house pretty clean and shower a lot, so I don’t think it is a cleanliness problem. I have experienced no-see-ums in the Caribbean and that is kind of what this reminds me of. Could it be bedbugs? I’ve heard they’ve made a resurgence in NY. Are they visible to the naked eye? Is there some other 100-yr-old house problem that I don’t know about? It is getting very annoying. Help!

  1. Has anyone found a solution to these invisible bugs? I have them in my condo in Atlanta, Ga., and have been fighting them for 10 years and nothing has helped: not Kleen Free, boric acid, Off, DEET, nothing. THey bite constantly all night long and what I have leaves a small welt on my butt and a red line on my arms and legs. The line goes away after a couple of minutes, but the welt on my butt lasts for a couple of days. please contact me at sukaycooks@yahoo.com and say Bug Mite Solution in the subject line.
    Thank you!!

  3. Dear Friends I to am suffering.
We live in ST Petersburg Florida, its early May 2008
Could we be suffering from dust mites?
We live on a sandy lot, nearest water, a small lake 2-3 blocks away. Our dog is on flea meds and bathes weekly.
Our daughter gets welts and bumps. I itch like crazy and yes we have carpet in 60% of the house. Dust mites is my guess.Check this website out. These look like at least for some of our culprits. Good luck to us all.

  4. I think the subjects here have gone way off in many directions. No-See ums or Sand Fleas are aggressive insects that bite in lines, they leave tracks on your legs or you legs might look like you have measles when they are done. I studied this to find they are a mosquito.
    >>> what I have is similar to all those of you who feel things on their legs, you know it’s there you slap, scratch whatever but no bite marks etc. You have any carpet in the house seems to make it an almost automatic that you feel them on your lower legs. I studied this to the point of delirium to say .. I AM NOT CRAZY ! Whoever says this to someone with a REAL issue about this problem is the crazy one.
… I can only figure that I know I have sensitive skin. For many years I start to itch and scratch (not a psychological problem) in damp old warehouse type environments or a musty garage, etc. I am a Jeweler, therefore I carry a mangifier LOOP. When the dog had fleas once, I cure it immediately. There are no fleas in my house. I live in South Florida and I have become a hobby entomologist of sorts. About 10 years ago I had “Forid Fly” infestation in my house (they look like fruit flies but they are not). I caught a few and brought them to the Palm Beach County Department of Entomology who identified them as FORID FLIES when my exterminator did not, could not and said it was not part of my contract. FORID FLIES are from South America. They were imported to Florida by the Department of Health to help the FIRE ANT infestations in Florida. Supposedly the Forid Flies Tear the head of Fire ants … well that did not work to help rid of Fire ants but just made a new problem, a FORID FLY infestation. TO rid my house of FORID FLIES, I tried EVERYTHING, I bleached the drains (where they are supposed to lay eggs in any moist mucky place) and so, so much more. IT did not work. SO, the gestation cycle is about 5 days (if I remember properly) so I bombed my house with 1 RAID ANT AND ROACH BOMB in every room and 4 in the attic. I did that every 5 days for 3 times to get all the little buggers that hatched afterwards. THEY were gone forever.
    >> WHAT I have now and have had is what I think is very AGGRESSIVE DUST MITES. I can’t see them but I know they are there. The next thing I’m going to do is tear out the bedroom carpets and have all the furniture (material items) professionally cleaned. I wash my bedding about once per week with hot water and bleach, I don’t feel them in my bed but I do feel them anytime my bare feet and bare legs are on a carpet the moment I am there it begins within seconds. I am NOT a lunatic, nor am I crazy nor do I believe this problem is psychosomatic. Please … anyone with ideas or concepts write me at modelgarage1@aol.com. WRITE: ” PERHAPS DUST MITES ? ” in the subject bar line or it will go to the SPAM filter. I want to hear from educated people who sanely tried to eliminate the same problem. I don’t have this at my girlfrieds house and our dog stays in both places, however, she has only a few runner type carpets and the rest of the floors are tile or hardwood/synthetic veneer type. I have all the bedrooms carpeted at my house. I spray, I disinfect I wash but as anyone knows that in Florida we have more dust than most anywhere. OH … I also bought 2 Kirby vacuums when I had the short term flea problem as I was told the Kirby sucks deep down into the carpet and better removes the eggs than any other type (probably there are others just as well) but the Kirby filtration system is great and better then most. Actually, I started by buying 2 used but like new Kirby’s then I bought a new one. If anyone needs a really nice used Kirby, contact me also, writing KIRBY to ModelGarage1@aol.com. Thank you. Sam

  5. I too am having a no see um problem, if that is what the pesky things are. I thought I had a problem with fleas, but I have no animals. Then I saw one fly past my tv screen, and I after research, I realized what I have in my home. I have just started having a problem with these things in the past month. They are everywhere, though originally, they were only in my office. I have sprayed repeatedly, and I also washed and re- washed sheets, clothes, towels, to rid myself of the vermin. They bite me, and some feel like tiny irritants, some like I am being poked with a needle. I have had NOOO success killing them!!! Someone PLEASE HELP ME!!!!. KW in SC

  6. I believe we have a noseeum infestation as well. We just moved in with my mom in FL and my kids and I are being biten. I have to find a less espensive route to keep us from being bit. If anyone has any ideas email me Jpye05@aol.com

  7. Help — I am miserable!

I live in Portland Oregon in a very wooded area. I have had this problem for 2 years. I have tried poison and natural solutions. Nothing works. I am covered with bites and welts. I store my clothes in Rubbermaid containers right out of the dryer as they are in the closets too. I wash all my bedding every day. I vacuum every day — makes very little difference.

This is hell on earth. what did I do to deserve this? I had a pest control company come and spray and their spray was useful for one day. However, they could not see any insects and thought I was nuts.

This is no way to live! Where is the solution? Someone please help.
