Floors - Water or Oil-Based Finish?

The estimator from Norwegian Wood was vehement in his opinion that the water-based material they use Traffic, by Bona Kemi) was suoerior in EVERY way to oil – looks, durability etc. Their quote is for either sealer and two coats of Bona Kemi , or 3 coats of oil-based poly.
Any thoughts???
I’d be happy to have a look at your floors and provide you with an estimate. Waterborne poly has come along way. The Bona reps have been swearing that their product holds up longer then Oil. The only problem is that this claim has been made with only a few years of field testing.
I make my recommendations case by case bases.

If you really are interested in these water-based polys. Have your floor guys give you a sample on a piece of wood. I have always done oil on floors because I know for a fact, the results I will get. Don’t shoot from the hip on this one. Many posters are crying about poor results with water base polys. Interesting note, I’m sitting at my desk that has an old water base poly finsh and I can feel my arms stick a little to the table top while I type. @$#*&!!
Original poster here. I had always heard that oil was better than water for poly – but now that the VOCs are much lower – and water-based is more in demand (several coops/condos in NYC won’t allow anything oil-based because of fumes and environmental hazards) – apparently the newest water-based polys are excelent – especially this BonaKemi stuff. Can anyone who is up to date comment?
Thanks!
I did my research before as I had my floors done. I chose oil as it is more durable.
