Wood Floors, Handyman
I need to find someone to refinish the original wood floors in our house in Park Slope. They’re pretty thin at this point, so I want to make sure I use someone who knows what they’re doing. Any ideas? I’ve seen Verrazano and Norwegian Wood around the neighborhood, but don’t know anyone who has used…

Any ideas?
I’d be happy to provide you with an estimate a long list of referneces.

If the floors are ” pretty thin at this point” I presume they’ve already been sanded one or more times and might be ruined by another sanding. When I was getting our house ready for the house tour a few weeks ago I used a product called “Rejuvanate” at the recommendation of a neighbor. I first washed the floors with Murphy’s Oil Soap and then applied this stuff and let it dry. IMO the floors look great. It might be a good idea to try this stuff before doing anything more drastic. The only drawback is that I could only find Rejuvanate at Home Depot, a store I REALLY dislike.
I’ve used a guy, Don, for the last year or so, for projects all over by Bed-Stuy townhouse, including excellent floor work, sheetrocking, tiling, carpentry, and superb painting. I recommend him highly, and by the way he’s fairly priced as well.

I wouldn’t trust Verrazano with original floors. They did a good job installing prefinished wood in one of our rooms, but aren’t particularly detail-oriented.
I’ve done business with both Verrazano and Norwegian. I would reccomend Norwegian.
