Where can I find a place in Brooklyn that cut or resizes doors. Please let me know where I can get doors cut evenly to aparticular size door.
actually, the top rail should be the exact same size as the stiles of the door. If they are different, the door has already been cut.
General rule of thumb when altering doors is to take inches off both top and bottom.
They look more balanced, may hang better, and also doors that are not wood all the way through (like cheap hollow core doors) only have solid wood for a couple of inches on the tops and bottoms. If you have to cut too much off, only on one end, you cut off all of the supporting wood.
In your case, cutting off an inch and a half from both top and bottom should not be too jarring a change.
