The apartment has a kitchen/living area, bathroom with clawfoot tub, new shower, skylight, and a spacious bedroom with fireplace and large walk-in closet. It is beautiful, with lots of old world charm and
original details. The house is 1.5-2 blocks from both the 2/3 Bergen Street and the 7th Avenue Q/B stops. It is about 7-10 minutes from Prospect Park or downtown Park Slope.

Rent is $1550 per month.

The unit has a shared entrance. We will be requiring references, credit check, and security deposit and
first/last month’s rent. Sorry, but non-smokers only.

Please email rfsgreene@mac.com to arrange to see the apartment.

  1. Just read the purpose of this forum:

Welcome to the Forum. Posting in this area is restricted to individuals seeking advice or services related to real estate or home renovations. In addition, posts about architectural salvage or the recycling of unused building materials or appliances are also okay.

This poster is not seeking advice or services related to real estate or home renovations, they are trying to use it rent an apartment. That is not a stated or appropriate use of the forum.

  2. Right, because heaven forbid people just use a lick of common sense. Lessee: this is a chat board for people talking about browntones. I don’t see any other ads but there’s no big sign anywhere telling me that I can’t do this specific thing. So I guess it makes sense for me to do it.

I’m tempted to sign up rfsgreene@mac.com for every listserve and spam group I can find. If people can’t understand what is appropriate, maybe at least they’d begin to understand what is in their best interest.

  3. It’s a forum- it’s up to brownstoner to decide what’s appropriate or not. Agreed ads should go elsewhere but if you are trying to reach a certain group, why not? Again- up to brownstoner to set rules and limits

  4. He didn’t get trolled.

    He is the troller.

The absolute worst thing that could happen to this board is that it becomes a cross between a 6-year old email account and Craigslist with people posting every piece of crap ad they want.

  5. Wow- unfortunately you got trolled. But there is a good point regarding the shared entryway (although I hardly think anyone can simply sign the lease and then not pay rent over a legal point). My difficulty would be with the sec. deposit, and first and final months rent. That’s a lot of money up front. If I remember correctly, the sec. deposit can be used as a final months rent if all agree. But it’s still an awful lot ovf money to have upfront.

  6. I hear that the apartment is vacant because all the previous tenants were killed by psycho serial killer, who will undoubtedly kill you once you move in.

  7. Shared entrance? Sounds like an illegal apartment. If you live there you don’t have to pay rent if there is no legal CofO. I say sign the lease and skip the rent.

  8. quel coincidence!
I was there for 6 months, attracted by the price, but the smell of cat pee, masked by floor varnish on inspection, was beyond comprehension!!

  9. If you’re going to rent from him, ask to see HIS financials first. They almost foreclosed on the property twice in the time that I lived there.
