How well will this hold up to moisture?
You can really use any paint for this job. “Floor paint”, especially low VOC latex, is not as durable as advertised and will require 3 coats of poly to protect it. Suggest you get the color you want, use 2-3 coats, and then finish with 3+ coats of good latex or soy-based poly (crystalac is a good choice – durable and doesn’t stink). It sounds like a lot of work, but painting floors is quick and easy. Make sure you give everything a week to cure up before putting anything heavy on it.
Both Benjamin Moore and Pratt and Lambert make good floor paint; it’s water-based and doesn’t smell bad when you put it on, but I don’t know about the VOC.
We used the BM on our basement stairs; it has a satin finish. FYI–this paint takes a long time to cure–a few weeks. It dries to the touch quickly, but you will bang up the finish if you don’t avoid/protect the painted areas for a few weeks.
