Can anyone recommend a good general contractor? I need someone to scrape popcorn from the ceilings and paint, replace a windowsill and put in a bathroom vanity cabinet. I got an estimate for $6475 and that seems a little high to me so i need another estimate. Unless someone can tell me that its not a high estimate, the apartment is roughly 700 sq ft and one of the rooms has already been scraped. thanks!!
6500 sounds cheap for a gc..figure she must pay herself and employees, insurance, taxes, etc.. although small job, it will take at least 1-2 weeks so..doesn’t look too expensive anymore
Seems really high. That’s not a lot of work. Easy DIY job, if you have the time and the minimal talent required.
agree that it seems high.
Doug Roesch is a very good paint and plaster contractor. Good prices and good crew. His crews are professional and pleasant, mostly highly skilled artist types, they were quite a pleasure to have around. His number is 917-604-7806. By the way his pricing seemed fair/market rate. Good luck.
it sounds high to me. there is a lot of work, but not quite that much for the size of space you describe. I think that if you look around you will manage to find someone who will do it for less.
Its a one bedroom with a dining/office space (700 sq ft total). the walls are in quite good shape, just the usual nail hole here and there. there are baseboards and the floor guy mentioned putting down shoe moldings. the estimate does include Benjamin Moore paint. i DO understand that the ceilings are labor intensive, and mine have some beams, so they are not flat and can not be sheet rocked over. any advice you could offer would be great, thanks!!
How many rooms need to be painted, do you have a lot of woodwork or trim, or anything that would complicate the painting job? Does that estimate include materials? Need more details!
