We recently purchase a 105 year old home. Most of the rooms had carpeting – when we pulled up the dining room and living room – the floors were pine – beautifully refinished and hardly anything needed to make them look great. However, in two of the bedrooms and a hallway the same type of flooring has been painted over several times. Any suggestions in terms of refinishing these floors?
Thanks for any advice.
I’d be happy to look at your floors and provide an estimate.

you can simply have them sanded and then stained, refinished. Sanding will take the paint off. I recommend a water based polyurethane, looks much nice, more natural. Also less toxic than oil based poly.
I have taken off 4-7 layers of linoleum on one floor in my house and I believe that the floors are pine. they were not finished and have some parts painted. We’re thinking of sanding them and then…
1) tung oil
2) paint them
2) paint them with a pattern
