In need of a good architect for a gut renovation of an 1100 square foot pre-war co-op in Park Slope. Would love someone who is familiar with doing co-op work in pre-war buildings in the area and who has a good understanding of how to truly maximize small spaces. Looking to create a warm comfortable space within a realistic budget. Recommendations greatly appreciated!

  1. Robert Frear Architects does primarily residential work and has significant experience in gut renovations of this kind. If you’d like more info on our firm, you can link to our website. I live in the neighborhood and am happy to come by and talk about your project.

  2. My firm, Prospect Architecture is a newer firm with a very stong commitment to each client’s specific needs as well as a focus on ‘Sustainable’ design and construction (I am LEED accredited and BPI certified for energy auditing). We have done multiple coop apartment renovations and landmarked brownstone renovations. My background in design is from working for the world class Robert A. M. Stern Architects firm for many years before starting my own practice. For larger projects we offer design build services which eliminates the need for finding and coordination with a General Contractor. Please contact us and we would be happy to meet with you for a free consultation and give reference information.

  3. I’d call NV Architects (Brenda Nelson and Tom van den Bout). They are great to work with, and have years of experience with Brooklyn renovations, as well as Landmarks. 212-964-6070. I’m sure they’d do a great job!

  4. Try my architect, Kim Peck 917-449-7557. She just completed the design and stamped drawings for my apartment renovation and I couldn’t be more pleased with her work. She is also a pleasure to work with, very creative and able to work within my very limited budget. Good luck!

  5. My name is Robert Proffitt and I am an architect. I would recommend David Johnson. He is a Brooklyn based architect with many years of experience. He is detail oriented and has a terrific sense of design.

    His phone number is 718-965-4138.

  6. Ray Saavedra 646-533-3301 was the architect and contractor of our brownstone apartment rennovation. He was great to work with and a did great job. (once you accept that rennovating in NYC is not as easy as anywhere else in the country.) We did some of the work ourselves, and we worked our schedules around eachother. He has done many pre-war coop apts in Manhattan as well.
