Can anyone recommend the company they used to replace their lead water main?
Thanks.

  1. What is the order of magnitude cost for replacing a lead main? DEP also wants to install a meter, so I was thinking to do it at the same time.

  2. If the pipe is underground you will need a watermain/sewermain company. I have used Mathew Ruggiero Plumbing(718) 875-1372 several times for varrious lengths of pipe (prices will varry depending how long the main is). Joe Ruggiero now runs the company and has tons of experience with all types of issues.

    Good Luck

  3. See previous post about Rick Nowak below this one. Try Rick Nowak, plumber: 347-678-5547
Highly recommended. I am on Adelphi at Lafayette. Met him because he was working on various things for OLEA restaurant. He solved a tricky gas pipe/dryer problem– located and quickly fixed the broken connection hidden behind a wall with just a couple of small easily-patchable holes– the guy’s brainy, nice (a Minnesotan) with very reasonable prices.

    Plumber Recommendation

We met Rick Nowak outside Olea (Mediterranean restaurant on corner of Adelphi and Lafayette) where he was doing a large job before the new opening. Since then we’ve used him twice- first for an emergency, and then for a regular maintenance. Both times he did a very thorough job-and he’s a nice guy too! His business card lists the following as his services:

    Installations
    Service & Repair
    Restaurant Equipment/Ovens/Ranges

    HVAC
    Plumbing
    Electrical
    Metal Fabrication (welding/brazing/smoldering)
