High Velocity Air Conditioning System
I am looking for an HVAC contractor with experience installing “SpacePak” , a high velocity air conditioning system. Has anyone used this system before? Any comments on this product and or contact in NYC would be helpful.

Hi,
We had a unico system istalled 4 years ago, and noticed that mold has begun to grow on the unit, and the duct work where the joints were put together.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I’ve called the area rep. and no one has called me back.

Spacepak is the best system by far. It’s quiet, hidden, and works perfectly. If the system makes noise, like the previous poster says, his wasn’t installed properly.
Spacepak is the preferred system for high end renovations. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know what they are talking about.
Check out central air conditioning review sites on the web and you’ll see.
Friend with SpacePak (Larry LaRose, author of “Gutted”) says SpacePak effetive but very loud — wouldn’t do it again.
Best,
GT
Priced out both Unico and Space Pak systems for my house in Ditmas Park. Cost was up there, but it’s really the only solution if you want to maintain any historical integrity and have Central Air. I forget who gave me estimates, but basically, I found local Vendors through both companies main websites.
I am aware of the Space-pak system. We looked into it for our place. Friends of ours have the similar but better Unico System…no complaints after 4 years. The Unico’s ducts are supposedly better at deterring mold and bacteria than Spacepak.
