Cork Floor?
I am looking into putting cork flooring in my kitchen. Has anyone done this or have suggestions about what type of cork flooring is good and how hard is it to install?

For cork planks, try Black River floors, in the midwest. (866) 857-5548. They have a web site too. http://www.blackriverfloors.com. Might save you some $ and they can send you samples if you want to check them out. They also have some planks engineered for below grade…can make a suitable flooring for finished basement – warm and comfy underfoot. Also cork is very environmentally friendly – it’s bark that gets peeled from a tree, which then regrows more bark, so tree doesn’t have to be cut down for use.

I had this twice in two kitchens and just loved it. It’s very easy on your legs if you do a lot of cooking. First time we self-installed, which I do not recommend with cork. It will look great until the temperature changes and anything uneven will warp. Second time we did a professional install. Aronson’s Floor Covering in Chelsea sells a great selection but it’s not the cheapest.
My friends have it and it’s great after 2 years of heavy use. ifloors.com has it, and there’s a nicer place up in the Bronx -Globus Cork- that has beautiful but pricier stuff.
My friend said it was the easiest floor he’s ever done – glue and tongue and groove.
