Steam Heat Specialist

I’m desperate to find a heating guy who specializes in Steam Systems. I start to lose hope when I have a plumber/heating specialist come look at my steam system and they treat it like it’s a Hot Water system. Basically, I’m looking for regular seasonal service as well as someone who can address some venting/balance issues I’m having with the system. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Have a nice day
Ditto on the Steam System guy. I too need a pro with Steam heating. There are many issues and no one seems to be able to handle them. If you find someone good, let me know please.
I third the recommendation for heatinghelp.com.
We had hammering problem when we started the heat the first winter. Annoying gurgleing noises and unbearable hammering made our lives miserable. Various heating people quoted $5,000 to $12,000 locate the problem and remedy the noise.
I found heatinghelp.com, bought some books, and carefully inspected the boiler and piping the best I could. In the process of drawing a schematic of the steam pipes in order to calculate volume and BTUs, I discovered a pipe in the basement pitched the wrong way. It had settled, and was pitched away from the boiler. I had a plumber come in and adjust the pipe. Problem fixed. Price: $400. No more noise.
I highly recommend learning the basics of your steam system so you can spot the knucklehead heating guys when they come to look.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have heard good things about Gateway before. Called them and they’re on the job next week. As for “We got Steam heat” I actually own it and use it as a constant reference throughout the winter. Thanks again.

I have steam heat and use gateway plumbing. I just signed up with them and they do my yearly boiler service. They are scheduled to do some upgrades and repairs for us as well. So far it seems like they know what they are talking about. I email one of the guys with questions and he gets back to me and takes the time to answer my questions throughly and not talk down to me. He also recommended a book, we got steam heat, purchased from a web site, heatinghelp.com. Check it out. Gateways number is 718-980-0909. I talk to John.
