Reviving Damaged Floors
My brownstone floors have been harmed by wet mopping them. I have pets so stripping the floors and reurethaning them is not doable right now. Is there anything else that I can do? Has anyone tried that product from next Ten called Floor Revive? Thanks in advance

It all depends on the amount of water you use. Too much moisture will definitely damage a wood floor. Ours (newly laid 5 years ago but using recycled and thus very stable boards) is showing very, very slight signs of raised ridges where the boards meet. Our expert wood refinisher told us to stop mopping immediately and also said the only way to make a permanent fix is to sand and re-poly the floors.
Damp mopping floors that have been polyurethaned is normal cleaning procedure. Harsh chemicals are not recommended. I use Murphy’s oil soap and water.
vinegar and water mopping was recommended to me for poly’d floors — I was warned off stronger cleaners.
Works fine so far….10 years.
I thought if you seal the floors this shouldn’t happen. Isn’t mopping wood floors standard operating procedures?
