Custom Stainless Steel

I had great (and cheap) work done by Jason Kitchen Design (212-477-5900 ask for Eric). They have an office on Delancey and a fabrication shop in bed-stuy. Here’s a link to my kitchen that’s on their site now:

Note to the person who’s needs a countertop. Make sure you use at least 14 gauge steel for the tops. Also, remember that it scratches! After a little time, the scratches so of swirl together, but the first few are heartbreaking.

I just got a beautiful stainless steel counter done at American Circle, 468 Rodney St, Bk, 11211, tel. 718-302-5798. It looks great. The manager there is strangely like the Landlady in ‘Kung Fu Hustle’ — floppy cigarette and all).
Bowery Restaurant Supply (there are a million of these along the Bowery in Manhattan, but I notice many designers/homeowners use this one) will also do whatever you want them to customize. I assumed since they were in Manhattan it would cost more but you should price them out.
If you only need backsplash, just go to Ikea! They sell stainless steel backsplash panels for $29! They also have freestanding stainless steel topped units, if you can use the sizes they have, or take the top from one of these units. If you don’t need a specific size, spending $150 on their table is better than spending $1000 on a custom made one!

Make a template and take it to any restaurant equiptment place on Atlantic Ave or in China Town. They usually can have it done in a few hours. You would then have to tap it and screw it in place.
