I now own this beauty and am in need of a GC to do a major renovation. I have heard Sean Dineen’s name mentioned. Does anyone have his # as well as any other good contractors for a renovation in Park Slope. My house was built in 1899 by an architect names Montrose Morris, a pretty famous Brooklyn architect I guess.
When interviewing contractors for my house, I talked to both Dineen and Burda, among others. I chose one of the others, but I thought Dineen & Burda were both qualified to do the job. Personally, I would choose Burda between those two (if they are your choices), but that was my personal choice. There’s a whole list of things that you need to consider when choosing a general contractor. It is important that you take care in doing so.
You should consider Larry Burda as well. He has won many awards for restoration/renovation work. His web site is http://www.burdaconstruction.com. E-mail me if you have any questions.
did you buy 22 ppw? i actually went through that house with sean dineen with a client of mine. you can call me at brown harris stevens if you want to hear what he had to say generally or just call sean yourself, he should remember the house. lee solomon, brown harris stevens, 718-399-4105.
Sean Dineen’s number is 718-965-2364. We interviewed him for some work on our browstone but thought the estimate was too steep. I do however have a friend who has used him and loves his work. Seemed like a nice enough guy, but wanted to charge use something like 5K to paint our living room, etc. Good Luck…
Montrose Morris is indeed one of the most prominent turn of the century architects who built a ton of beautiful buildings all over brooklyn…you should definitely read up on him before making any major reno decisions!
