350 people came out yesterday to march against Bruce Ratner’s plans for the Altantic Yards. They processed behind a marching band playing a mournful rendition of America the Beautiful and they raised a Don’t tread on Brooklyn flag in front of Freddy’s, a local bar that is the epicenter for anti-arena dissent and a structure slated for demolition under the plan. The protest reportedly raised $50,000 for the Develop Don’t Destroy’s fight against the project.

I think I heard the exact count was 247 (excluding canine protesters). Incidentally, there are more to come. Maybe next time the NYPD will let us march in the streets instead of requiring people to march on the sidewalk (resulting in a long, narrow march, which could make the turnout look smaller than it really was).
I don’t know when you saw it but I was in it. There were more than 80 people, but less than 250. No topless protesters, but several attractively costumed performers and marchers.
Any hot topless female protesters?
I saw the protest and it would be generous to say that there were 80 people there.
Anybody see the article in The Sun? It mentioned that not all area residents are against the plan and specifically mentioned BUILD. Now I have to write them a letter explaining that 1) BUILD is not area residents and 2) it is a Ranter-financed sham organisation. The march was great though — a perfect day, and we were passed twice by one of those red double-decker tourist buses. They looked on in bemusement, but I’m sure they’ll want to know what was up.. Soda Bar afterwards was cool too.
