In a Q&A with the Brooklyn Paper, Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corp. President Regina Myer says she’s optimistic that unlike other aborted attempts, this time will be different for Brooklyn Bridge Park plans. Demolition of structures in the park’s footprint began last month. “There was $150 million allocated for this park, those funds are still available. They’re a combination of funds from the Port Authority and from the city,” says Myer. “The other good news is that the city has already put an additional $75 million in its preliminary budget. I hope that the combination of those two will permit us to get the project underway.” Myer also says she hopes that “significant parts of this park” will be finished by next year.

No way the city can pull out now after all that demo.
