609 myrtle
When we posted about 609 Myrtle back in June when it was still in the heavy construction phase there was disagreement among readers about the potential demand for “luxury” condos in the no-man’s land of Kent and Myrtle. With the wisdom of hindsight, it looks like the optimists were right. Of the ten units on the market, contracts are signed on three and out on another two. The remaining five apartments are priced around $550,000. Wow. Some of you must have stopped by the open house last weekend. What’d you think?

  1. myrtle ave won’t be recognizable in six years. hold on to your preconcieved biases against the area. it’ll be your loss. they’re at least a dozen on-going construction sites on the stretch between nostrand and flatbush. it’ll be part of the brooklyn gateway with high-rises clustered around willoughby square.

  2. It may not be fedders, but it is still as mediocre as they get. Not much better than Gates and Vandy, I might add. I do appreciate the stark articulation of the street wall to continue the rhythm of the historic storefronts.

  3. what are those donuts in the floor plans? are those structural elements? how is that possible in new constructions? i especially love the one in the d-line, which you have to circumnavigate everytime you go to either the bed- or bathroom.

  4. Myrtle Ave is looking different (better) every day. I commute by bike all along the ave. nearly every day, and the new construction from Bushwick to Fort Greene is astonishing. Plenty of new businesses as well.
