A reader nicely emailed us this photo he took of the progress at the Lotus Condominiums on Bayard Street at Union in Greenpoint. He’s digging the design and considering stepping up to the plate on this one. What do we think of it? Well, while we’re not about to sell the new house to move in here, it certainly looks like a step up from much of stuff that’s been built further south in Williamsburg. Certainly no lack of sunlight or views. There’s no square footage info on the broker’s website, but there are two one bedrooms listed for $569,000 and $640,000. We’d guesstimate that this puts price per square foot at between $700 and $800. In addition, you have the option of ponying up for your own private parking space. As an aside, what kind of experiences have people had with the broker Apartments and Lofts?

  1. Just paint over the diamond shapes with the oxidized copper green paint and it will look ok. Right now it looks like a chemical company headquarters from Tulsa or Phoenix in 1963.
All you have to do nowadays is build a box with one exposure, put a slab of travertine in the lobby, with a fake waterfall and a pendant lamp, call it something like The ZigZag, say it’s a “Luxury condo” with great views of the incinerator and people will give you $800,000 for a studio!

  3. wow. think it’s tough to spot the brokers’ postings on this thread? this piece of shit’s been on the market so long, they’re now giving away 15″ LCD televisions. this building sucks.

  4. INCREADIBLE VIEWS!!!!!! And on the park. It is a bold design and yes, there are going to be lovers and haters. But the LOCATION? I went in for the open house and must say that the location has to be the best in Willaimsburg.

  5. everytime i see this building, i wonder if the developer has a connection to pittsburg with the steeler star design on the front of the building.

yes, it’s ugly in person, but is in a decent location overlooking the renovated section of mccarren park. huge windows too.
