house
This newly-constructed house in Bed Stuy looks like a three-family (judging from the number of mailboxes) built on spec by a developer. It’s only a few blocks from our place in Clinton Hill but the juxtaposition highlights in our mind what a difference Landmarks designation makes. Does anyone know if there is any momentum to landmark portions of Bed Stuy (other than Stuy Heights)?

  1. Unfortunately, we too have noticed alot of this type of “New Constuction”. We were fortunate, and found a lovely single family in Bed-Stuy after many years in Fort Greene. While we are glad that that the vacant lots are being built upon, it saddens me to see that Bed-Stuy seems not be attracting the same qualtity of developers and buildings that I see going up in places between Cobble Hill, Park Slope & Downtown Bklyn. Landmarks save us!!!!!!

  2. certain blocks radiating from stuyvesant heights are listed as “calendared” under Landmark Status on the DOB website. i assume this means they are up for landmark designation, but who knows when.

  3. This sort of travesty is popping up all over the hood. The worst part is that many of these horrendous looking places don’t even sell. Some end up as Section 8 housing when the so-callled developers can’t unload them.

    Shoddy construction+vile architecture=instant slum

I would prefer a garbage-strewn vacant lot to this crap.
