It looks like things are starting to happen at the future home of the new townhouses at 233 Carlton. As far as we know, though, Landmarks hasn’t signed off on the project yet. In addition to the bulldozer and dumptruck, we spied an impressive pile of salvaged timber in the yard that must have come from inside the church. We hope they’ll find a way to incorporate these into the new townhouses. They look like the joists in our house.

Developer came over and said hi to me the other day and wanted everybody to know that he is a green developer and is desperately looking to give away seasoned wood from the site for people to burn in their fireplaces. He will even deliver it! So head on down to Carlton between Dekalb and Willoughby if you can help take it off of his hands.
i was told that the real construction won’t begin for another year and 1/2. they’ve been checking out the foundation of the church/neighboring houses. my yard touches this property and i recently met one of the developers. he was very nice and explained the plans to me and answered many questions…
It looks like the only permit on the site is for shoring and underpinning in the church (88 Adelphi), issued in 2002.
