Pretty disappointing. It’s almost as though they didn’t know how to end the building (and no, that doesn’t mean it needs a cornice, but it needs something).
Stargazer – the gray is a terra cotta rain screen, though it sure looks more like vinyl in this picture.
And yes – Duane Reade is coming (it was announced months ago, and there’s been a sign up for ages). King’s across the street is trying to organize opposition – personally I hope DR is just successful enough to get King’s to lower their insane prices. I also think that this DR doesn’t bode well for the future of the DR at Northside Piers.
pretty bad – hope they aren’t planning to sell these things.
I do not like the windows, they make the facade look messy and un-even, plus how do you clean them from the outside?????
screens??????
Actually, now that I look at it again, it is really really ugly.
I think the tenements of the lower east side look better, at least they had architecture, not vinyl….
lol it LITERALLY looks like a pile of poop! way to go, williamsburg just got a little prettier!
*rob*
Kind of reminds me of that awful yet amusing castle building at Nostrand and Clifton Place…except they added more glass.
Ugh! That’s hideous.
It’s like they *tried* to be creative… but just couldn’t pull it off. At least they (sort of) tried.
