It’s unfortunate that the developer of 19 Lefferts Place couldn’t figure out a way to make enough dough without plopping this set back penthouse on the roof of this new four-family project. After all, the scale and placement of the windows on the lower floors is quite respectful of the surrounding brownstones.

    Not particularly offended. I don’t think the penthouse looks too bad actually. I don’t really know what the big deal is here…

  2. Woo hoo! Crenelations! Rain fire-arrows down upon your enemies!

    To me, the set-back penthouse is far less offensive than the crenelations and naked facade. If they’d just put a proper cornice on the top and above the windows, you wouldn’t even notice the set-back penthouse as you walked by.

    Those crummy little decorative features make a huge difference in terms of staying in character with the neighborhood. How freaking expensive could they be? I mean, compared to these awesome “hey kids, we live in a castle!” crenelations?
