One of the defining features of the controversial development 580 Carroll Street, its angled glass windows, has started to come into focus. Over the past few weeks glass has gone up on the Garfield Place side of the Enrique Norten-designed building, above, as well as on a small section of the Carroll Street part of the structure. A BSA hearing later this month will likely decide whether the increased density the developer is gunning for on the Carroll side—which would result in the glass wall reaching the sidewalk rather than being set back considerably and fronted by small yards, as in an older version of the design—will come to pass.

  1. The glass views on Carroll will be the back of a few of the tenements there. I wouldnt think that is something the new owners would want to look at.
On the other hand, living in the tenements it might be fun to watch all the new tennants in thier cages……walking back and forth.

Oh, and how do you clean the walls of glass from the outside… what good is a view with dirty windows??????

  2. HEY HDL ONE WORD SIMPLISTIC…. THIS IS THE MOST SIMPLISTIC DESIGN I HAVE SEEN
STRIP DOWN WHAT????? IT IS A SHELL… AND THAT FENCE ON CARROLL ST. WHEN DID MAGNIFICENT ARCHITECTURE BECOME SIMPLE DESIGN… I KNOW WHEN—– WHEN THESE DEVELOPERS FOUND CHEAP. THE ARCHITECT MAY HAVE BEEN INSPIRED, BUT HE IS SPENDING THIER MONEY. I THINK THEY MISSED WITH THAT FENCE.. IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT THE GARBAGE FROM THE BUILDING WILL DO FOR THE DESIGN WHEN IT IS PILED OUT IN FRONT OF IT ON PICK UP DAY…

  3. IF PARK SLOPE IS NOTED FOR ITS BROWNSTONES AND BRICK. PEOPLE BUY PARK SLOPE FOR THIS REASON. BK REAL ESTATE VETERAN HAS BEEN IN THE WRONG BUSINESS TOO LONG. LIKE TO SEE ANYONE PUT THIS SQUARE PEG IN THIS ROUND HOLE.

  4. I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS NOT A CASE OF GOOD BUILDING IN THE WRONG PLACE.
WHEN THE PROSPECTIVE BUYERS ARE GIVEN A WALL OF WINDOWS I THINK THEY ARE HOPING TO HAVE A VIEW, IT SEEMS TO ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO BE MORE CONCERNED WITH PRIVACY ISSUES. TOO CLOSE TO OTHERS TO BE APPRECIATED I THINK.
PERHAPS A FAMILY OF GERBILS OR HAMSTERS. IT JUST RESEMBLES A FANCY
STACK OF AQUARIUMS. THE GARFIELD/CARROLL ST TERRARIUM.
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE THE BROKERS CAN USE THIS
ANGLE FOR A SALES PITCH. THE DEVELOPERS SPENT ALOT OF MONEY ON THE FOUNDATION AND CONCRETE STRUCTURE, VERY STRONG, VERY EXPENSIVE. SO
IF YOU BUY INTO THIS BUILDING TODAY AT TODAYS PRICES, WHEN THE APOCALYPSE
OCCURS AND EVERYTHING THEY HAVENT DAMAGED FALLS THE OWNERS WILL BE GUARANTEED THE BEST VIEWS. HURRY BUYERS AND SECURE YOUR GLASS BUBBLE TODAY.
