In April, a two-story home on 19th between 5th and 6th Avenues was demolished to make way for a four-story, nine-family dwelling instead. The architect is Nataliya Donskoy, whose work we’re not familiar with a graduate of the Scarano School of Design. Yikes, judging by that link, this lot might be better off as a boarded up hole in the ground …
The house that used to be there was actually a really neat little woodframe with a pitched roof and cornice- it was in nice shape, and I believe it was detached.
Sorry, we didn’t get a chance to read this before it went up. Long-time readers will of course know Ms. Donskoy as an alumna of…drumroll please…Scarano Architects.
