Looks like the finishing touches are going in at the Fenella, another BK Developers project that adds to their reputation as one of the least aesthetically pleasing developers, and, boy, do they get around the South Slope. If you check out their renderings, you’ll see they’ve presented a long expanse of suburbanish lawn out the window, which reveals a lot about their sensibility and lack of interest in architectural contextuality. Their last permit was to install boilers, so they must be getting near market time. How much do you think these will sell for? GMAP P*Shark DOB

  1. Hey Fast Freddy…

    you stole MY favorite phrase!

It’s OK, I’ll share, especially in the case of the craptacular BK developers. Throwing up sh•tboxes all over the South Slope and Greenwood Hts. Check out the POS on 19th Street between 5th and 6th.

  2. I think in this case the “BK” actually stands for Burger King. FYI… The empty lot next door, 224 16th, is theirs as well and has had a Stop Work Order in place for months now. Something about their foundation being built not according to plans.

The new building going up on 18-20 Jackson Place is theirs as well. Brownstoner covered that disaster.

Don’t forget about the pink CMU infill on 14th Street next to the Armory. That’s got the architects signature peak to one side of the roof line.

Fenella? The brown sheet metal cornice is no doubt some post modern nod to all the remaining aluminum-clad wood frame buildings in the area. The way they used to box in all those old details…

  3. Yes, they are truly ugly. And, if they are anything like many of the other buildings in the south Slope, the construction will be SHODDY. The roofs will probably leak, the bath fixtures will leak, parts will remain unfinished. The buyers should just file a lawsuit at the closings. Still they’ll price in the middle 500s for a 1 bdrm – even in THIS market.
