Last we checked, progress was molasses-like at 93 Nevins, otherwise known as the Heath House, a green townhouse project in Boerum Hill. They seem to be finally rounding the curve these days, with the fourth floor addition showing signs of, um, health. The developers sent this vague but hopeful progress report:
“Slowly slowly slowly getting closer.

  1. The env mag Natural Home has a glowing article on this house every month, but seeing as they’re somehow connected with it, no surprise. According to them, there’s great progress: all interior walls, stairs, shell insulated, waterproofed and rebuilt and awaiting limestone blocks from Indiana (how is that green!) etc.

I went to an forum on this 6 months ago, and according to the architect, much remediation was done for toxic materials, and I believe him. Whether that makes it a “health house” is uncertain.

There are, ims, only 2 3-bed apts here, one 4 stories and the other 3, with a garage for each. No doubt will top $2 mil when they sell, should make for interesting posts.

Is this some John Cage reference?

Also, PropJoe…Heath Ledger died a few months ago. You must have seen his ghost.

  3. I lived across the street from this building from 1994-6. It was a crack house. I was told that there was a fire 20-30 years ago and it has been abandoned and exposed to the elements ever since.

I laugh at the thought of this building being ‘healthy’. You would need to dismantle it and scrub every brick with a commercial solvent to say that with a straight face.

  4. John, after the community board voted against the BSA application, the attorney said they would come back with a new design. To the best of my knowledge, there has not been any re-design but, on the other hand, the existing application has not been scheduled for a BSA hearing either.
