There’s lots o’ development on Atlantic Avenue in general these days, with a particular flurry between Hoyt and Bond. We noticed three smaller projects on the block–two renos and one new construction–and present them to you herewith. Clockwise from top left, we’ve got: 1) 368 Atlantic Avenue: GMAP P*Shark; 2) 385 Atlantic Avenue: GMAP P*Shark; 3) 392 Atlantic Avenue: GMAP P*Shark. Tawk amongst yourselves.

  1. Hey Chris! I know you. First I run into you on Columbia St and now Brownstoner.

Congrats on the move. Sorry you had to leave the old place because of your greedy landlord.

  2. well, i called the city and learned that they’re working w/o the right permits. i didn’t call 311 though. i also know that it was orginally a german beer hall before it morphed into a synagogue and then a furniture shop.

  3. 368 ‘was’ going to be a nightclub, but the plan was dk’d. I believe it is ging to b e a combo restaurant/lounge. The vacant lot at 392 has been idle for aleast 2 years. I don’t believe anything is going on there.

  4. It was Time Trader yes a great antiques store. I believe it was formally a synagogue as their is a Jewish star in the tilework and and stained glass window in the stairway. They had 3 floors packed with furniture.. and the owener was a wonderful lady. I bought sevral pieces there .. prices were decent considering the rest of the block. I miss that store.

    sigh.

368 was indeed “time antiques” or something like that… and before that it was an old synogoge if my memeory serves me correctly…
if you look closely,,, there are inscriptions (in Hebrew[?]) around the door surround thing…

  6. wasn’t 368 formerly an antiques shop? if it is going to be residential above, then i agree with anon 11:35-the lofts will be huge. wonder though what they will look out on in the back. cool building to live in…anyone know its original purpose?

  7. 385 is a new one – but those other two lots have had those plywood sheds in front of them for at least a year, with no appreciable change.

there’s also a new 8-story building going up on Atlantic & Nevins near the Door Store, and a 5-story on 3rd Ave, by Hanks.
