The digging had barely begun at 238 St. Marks Avenue in Prospect Heights when the project was hit with a Stop Work Order last week. The punishable offense? A lack of approved plans at the site for the “support of excavation and underpinnings.” Sketch-o-rama. Can they build an 8 story building on that block? Isn’t the max height 50 ft.
oh well….another hole in the ground in my nabe, Prospect Heights. It’ll go nicely with the several other buildings that are 1/2 completed and abandoned. Ugh.
This is a Sanches Associates PC screw up or a Skoblo Zalman Managing PC screw up?
And did Axis Design Group take over on project?

As an engineer in NYC, I’m constantly stunned by the ‘local charm’ of our contractors, especially dirt guys. It’s not like I started with high expectations either. I guess underpinning is costly and time-consuming, but the lives! The adjacent properties!
