Earlier this week a demolition permit was issued for 27-45 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City. The owner has applied to build a 22-story hotel on the site. However, according to building department records the plan was disapproved in May. Nonetheless, according to the demolition permit, the teardown of the 20 foot wide and 200 foot deep building (the brick building with the green sign in the image above) was slated to begin this week. Assuming the plan gains approval, this will add yet another hotel to the growing number of them in the neighborhood.
UPDATE: We’ve learned from a reader this this will be an ALOFT hotel. ALOFT is Starwood’s boutique brand.
