Camping Out Still Cool in The Burg

We thought that whole camping out to buy a condo thing was so 2005, but it looks like, in Williamsburg at least, the trend is still alive. The Post reports that Stephenson Brown pulled an all-nighter to get first pick of the eight condos at 113 South Second, arriving at 4 p.m. the day before a noon open house recently. The 23-year-old Brown snagged the one apartment with Manhattan views (how long will that last?), a 900-square-foot one-bedroom for which he had the privilege of handing over $625,000. There are three units left, including a 1,232-square-foot one-bedroom duplex for $645,000.

I need a new job.
Yes, thats where a worker was killed.
Wasn’t this the building where a worker fell to his death a few months ago?
Manhattan views from east of Berry? That may not be a solid investment.
Anon, you’re right. Apartments are selling today for a lot less than they were last year. The bubble has officially been popped.
Sometimes I am convinced that the real estate board of NY or some other developer/broker friedly agency sends “gifts” to some journalists to write a story like this. No one thinks the market is still that hot.
guess i should click on the link before commenting…
the $645K unit is a cellar/garden studio.
the 1232 sq. ft 1 BR is actually $675K.
how many people here would pay $625K for 900 square feet, when you could get 1232 square feet for $645K in the same building?
ok, that view must be nice, but not as nice as 332 sq ft of additional living space. that’s just my opinion though.
are city views really worth $171/sq ft??
